Storage is an important part of a functional and organized gym. Investing in high-quality gym storage solutions, such as gym lockers, weight racks and gym storage, has many benefits. Storage helps to create a pleasant and safe environment. With good storage, you ensure that the gym stays in a tidy condition and that the training equipment does not end up on the floor. It's also a great way to organize items and keep your gym clean and tidy, minimizing accidents and injuries. Investing in high-quality gym storage pays off in the long run, as you ensure your gym equipment stays damage-free and looking good year after year.

What storage should I have in my gym?

Below we list which gym storage is a must in every gym. Depending on how big your gym is, more or less of the different storage solutions are required, but the basis is the same.

Storage of weight plates

Weight racks are a great way to store and organize weight plates in the gym. Weight racks keep your weight plates upright and properly organized, so you can add and remove weights as needed. They are also designed to take up minimal space and protect your weight plates from damage. Weight racks are flexible and come in different sizes to suit your particular gym. There are also different models of weight racks with e.g. space for both weight plates and barbells. This means you can always find storage for your weight plates that suits you. When you use a weight rack at the gym, it's much easier to keep your gym organized and it saves time when you're ready to start working out. Weight racks also ensure that the weight plates end up at a comfortable height so that you can easily lift heavy weight plates to your barbell or gym machine.

Storage for barbells

If you have several barbells in your gym, it can be nice to have storage for your different bars. Otherwise, it is easy for the barbells to end up on the floor, and it will be difficult to organize them and clean the gym floor. Depending on how much space you have, you can either have the barbells in standing racks on the floor or in racks where you hang them horizontally on the wall. There are also racks that you attach to the wall where the barbells are standing against the floor in a vertical position. Perfect to use on e.g. pillars that otherwise only take up surface. Barbell racks keep your barbells looking nicer for longer and make it easy for you to pick up and return the barbells during your workout. Consider investing in high quality bars and storage to ensure they last year after year.

Storage of dumbbells

There are both larger and smaller racks for your dumbbells depending on how many dumbbells you have and in what weights. For your lighter dumbbells, you have column or pyramid racks. For your heavier dumbbells, there are horizontal racks with one or two levels depending on how many dumbbells you have. Most often, you have both vertical and horizontal storage to be able to offer your gym members a complete dumbbell station.

In front of the dumbbells, it is common to place gym benches and behind the dumbbells a mirror wall so that you or your gym members can see themselves when they perform the dumbbell exercises.

Having dumbbells properly stored in a dumbbell rack is perhaps the most important thing to consider when building a gym. In addition to providing a clean and neat appearance, it makes it easier to find the desired weights and use them as needed for the workout. It also helps keep your training effective because you don't have to waste time searching the entire gym to find the right weights. Dumbbell racks also protect your dumbbells and prevent them from breaking or wearing out. In addition, it helps prevent personal injuries that can occur if dumbbells are left lying around the gym. This way you can ensure that you get the full experience and results of a safe and effective training session.

Storage for smaller training equipment

Storage for smaller exercise equipment such as gym balls, exercise mats and kettlebells is important as you then ensure that the gym equipment is always available for the gym members or yourself. Unless the exercise equipment is positioned for person-to-person use, it will take extra time for the user to try to find things that can be used during exercise. An organized storage area simplifies the process of finding, removing and returning gym equipment. Which leads to a tidy gym and satisfied gym members.

You can store kettlebells both in specific kettlebell racks or in gym shelves where you store several training accessories such as hex dumbbells and slam balls.

Both medicine balls and gym mats have specific storage options that not only make the gym equipment easy to find, but can also function as an interior detail. If you choose stylish storage equipment with a common thread, you create a neat and tidy impression in the gym.

Gym locker

Gym cabinets or changing cabinets are a given storage option in your gym. For you as a gym member, lockers give you the freedom to exercise at any time without having to carry around a training bag at the gym. You can lock up all your belongings while still having full access to them. You can feel confident that your valuables are safely stored in a locked cabinet. For the gym, this is a good way to keep order and ensure that security is high in the gym.

Depending on how your gym looks, there are several different cabinet options. There are safes that are smaller but perfect for storing e.g. mobile phones and wallets in the entrance to the gym.

For the changing rooms, there are larger gym lockers. These also come in different forms. There are L-shaped cabinets where you use the entire height of the cabinet or rectangular cabinets where you use the entire width of the cabinets. You can also mix the two different cabinet types to give your gym members more choices.
